Green Breakfast Smoothie
Ingredients:
1 smallish banana
I kiwifruit
1 slice of pineapple
1 stick of celery
1 cup of mixed spinach and kale leaves
1 Tbsp LSA (linseed, sunflower, almond)
1 ¼ cup of coconut water
Blend all ingredients for a delicious breakfast smoothie that is full of goodness
Why are all these ingredients beneficial for our body, and its daily function?
Bananas: Bananas are high in potassium and magnesium, and provide vitamin B6. The pectin in bananas provide a great source of soluble fibre, and the banana fibre also contains prebiotics which helps to maintain our healthy gut bacteria.
Kiwifruit: Kiwifruit contains 20 vital nutrients, including 5 times the vitamin C of an, orange, high in Vitamin E, K, A and B2 and is a great source of fibre, potassium and folate.
Pineapple: Pineapple contains magnesium, thiamine (source of vitamin B), vitamin C, and a unique enzyme called bromelain that is thought to have cancer fighting capabilities, and also allows the body to break down food, aiding in absorption of nutrients from our food.
Celery. Celery is high in vitamins A, B2, B6, C, K, potassium, folate, cooper, calcium, magnesium. Its also high in antioxidants and beneficial enzymes.
Spinach: Spinach is an excellent source of vitamin A, B2, B6, C, K, calcium, manganese, magnesium, folate, iron, cooper, phosphorus, zinc, protein, choline and a great source of dietary fibre.
Kale: Kale is a great source of vitamin B1, B2, C, E, iron, magnesium, folate, calcium, potassium, omega-3 fatty acids phosphorus, protein, niacin and is high in fibre.
LSA: LSA provides you with essential fats that our body can’t make it selves, in the form of omega-3 and omega-6. It’s also high in vitamin B and fibre.
Coconut Water: Coconut water is tapped from the centre of young green coconuts, and is nature’s own isotonic drink (sports drink). Its naturally high in electrolytes, in the form of magnesium, potassium, sodium, phosphorus, and calcium.
